Mothers Day

May 25th, 2013 - Saint Louis, MO

During a plein air event in Webster Groves, I chose this young man's beautiful side yard to paint. He came out and watched me for a little while, then he asked how much I would want for the painting. I told him the price. At 4:00 pm, we were to take our paintings to the Monday Club for judging and to sell. I saw the young man again. He came up to me sheepishly and said " I really hate to ask you this but I would really like to get this painting for my Mom for Mother's Day but I only have x amount of dollars. Would you take that?" I said "yes, I would. I would like to see you have this painting. So he counted out his money with quite a bit of one dollar bills. I handed it to him and told him it was still wet because it was oil and that it would take about 3 weeks to dry. He said "Oh, I can't wrap it?" So I found a box but told him he needed to keep it flat. He was very proud and happy. I felt good.
